DIPLOMA COURSES
Year 12 applicants and recent high school graduates There is no ATAR requirement for our diploma courses however applicants must provide evidence of having completed an Australian Senior Secondary Certificate (Year 12) within the last 2 years.
Non-Year 12 applicants Applicants who are applying based on a recent Vocational Education & Training (VET) study or Higher Education study or Work & Life Experience must submit the following:
VET Certificate IV or higher obtained in the last 2 years or
Relevant higher education qualification within the last 5 years or
A 500-word Personal Statement outlining work and life experience that also addresses their achievements, experience, knowledge and communication skills.
INTERNATIONAL ADMISSIONS CRITERIA
The entry requirements for ICAT include qualification equivalent to an Australian Year 12 with the required entry grade, plus English language comparable to Academic IELTS 6.0 for the Bachelor of Business, with no band less than 5.5.
For our Communications and Media course the IELTS band score is 7.0 with no band less than 6.5.
Applicants may also be invited to an interview as part of the final application process.
Please note that ICAT cannot accept applications from students under the age of 18.
How long you take to complete your course of study at ICAT depends on a number of factors such as the duration of your course, your study load, your academic progression and if you take any time away from our studies. Generally, the maximum number of subjects you can take per trimester is four (for a full-time study load) and the minimum number of subjects per trimester is two (for a part-time study load).
You can suspend your enrolment to take a leave of absence, for example to travel, for up to a maximum of 12 months. If you want to suspend your enrolment for a longer duration, you will be required to withdraw from the course and re-apply when you are ready to recommence your study. Applications to suspend your enrolment should be made no later than five working days before Census Date to avoid academic and/or financial penalty.

Census Dates are the official deadline for finalising your enrolment and fees without incurring any academic and/or financial penalties. For example, if you wish to withdraw your enrolment or change to a part-time study load, you must do so before the relevant Census Date to avoid a ‘Withdrawn Fail’ on your academic transcript and incurring a fee liability for those subjects. Each trimester has its own Census Date and these listed in the Academic Calendar and Student Handbook.
