FASHION STYLING & CREATIVE DIRECTION
UNIT DESCRIPTION
This unit develops the student’s knowledge and skills in communicating fashion through digital and physical channels. Students will expand on their industry practical skills, through the planning, organisation and implementation of a final fashion shoot. The unit features studies in trend forecasting, creative direction, influential stylists and style icons, editorial styling, personal styling, wardrobe styling for film and television, merchandising and visual storytelling. The delivery of the unit will incorporate a range of teaching and learning strategies including lectures, tutorials, workshops, class discussions, student presentations, independent student research and practical application.

Understand the fashion styling, creative direction and communication process and develop the creative, intellectual and technical skills necessary to practice within the fashion industry

Analyse the latest fashion trends and forecasting approach

Prepare a client brief considering the client profile, needs, purpose, budget, body shape, trends and accessories

Visualise highly finished creative solutions using appropriate photographic imagery and/or illustration, graphic design and typography for a variety of visual mediums including print and digital

Manage creative and human resources for the execution of styling projects, from concept, to development, visualisation, team supervision, and project and production management

Demonstrate professional presentation skills to pitch creative solutions to a client
